Round Hill Music files copyright infringement lawsuits against Suno and Anthropic over AI training
Round Hill Music L.P. said it filed copyright infringement lawsuits against Suno, Inc. and Anthropic PBC, alleging the companies used musical works it owns or manages without authorization to train AI models. The suits assert that defendants reproduced Round Hill's intellectual property on servers in violation of the Copyright Act and employed data scraping to bypass security measures in violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Works cited include "Iris" by Goo Goo Dolls, "Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Bonnie Tyler and "I Got You (I Feel Good)" by James Brown. CEO and founder Josh Gruss said: "We are not against artificial intelligence. We are against the idea that you can build a business worth billions on top of other people's creative work and pay the creators nothing." Round Hill is represented by Richard S. Busch of Adams and Reese LLP.
