GE Aerospace's T901 engine clears Preliminary Flight Rating for the UH-60M Black Hawk
The U.S. Army announced on Aug. 12, 2026 that GE Aerospace's T901 engine achieved Preliminary Flight Rating (PFR), described as a key airworthiness milestone on the path toward full qualification, following forward flight testing on a UH-60M Black Hawk. The T901 is designed to replace the T700 in the Army's UH-60M Black Hawk and AH-64 Apache fleets and, per the report, delivers 50% more power and 25% better specific fuel consumption than the T700. Full airworthiness qualification testing is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of Fiscal Year 2027, running in parallel with UH-60M developmental testing.
