IREN delivers Horizon 1 to Microsoft and achieves NVIDIA Exemplar Cloud status on GB300 NVL72

IREN said Horizon 1 - the first of four 50MW (IT load) direct-to-chip liquid-cooled AI Cloud deployments at its Childress, Texas campus under the five-year, $9.7 billion Microsoft cloud services contract announced in November 2025 - has been delivered to and accepted by Microsoft. IREN also achieved NVIDIA Exemplar Cloud status following NVIDIA's testing of its GB300 NVL72 deployment at Horizon 1. Horizons 2-4 remain scheduled for delivery in 2026, with IREN targeting 480MW (gross) of AI Cloud capacity in 2026 and 1.2GW (gross) in 2027.

TSMC & Sony establish JV in Japan to develop smartphone image sensors

TSMC and Sony are establishing Advanced Vision Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation, a joint venture in Kumamoto, Japan, to develop and manufacture smartphone image sensors, with volume production set to start in 2029. TSMC is investing about 282 billion yen and Sony contributing about 465 billion yen in cash and assets; Sony will be the JV's sole controlling shareholder and consolidate it, with TSMC providing advanced process technology and manufacturing expertise while Sony leads core image-sensor development, product planning and design.

Cerebras stock plunges about 14% after second earnings report following IPO

In its second earnings report since its May IPO, Cerebras reported Q2 total revenue of $180 million (core revenue $210 million) and a net loss of $450.5 million, most of it tied to $386.6 million of stock-compensation costs, versus a $309.5 million profit a year earlier. The company raised full-year core revenue guidance to $880-$890 million (from $855-$865 million), guided current-quarter core revenue to $214-$216 million with core gross margin expanding to 38-40%, and cited $25.4 billion in remaining performance obligations; AI cloud revenue was $126 million in the June quarter. The stock still tumbled about 14% in extended trading.
