Nvidia backing $105 billion in financing for OpenAI data center in Ohio
NVIDIA disclosed in an 8-K filed August 17, 2026 that it entered multiple residual value guaranties with SB Energy Corp. covering leases for approximately 4.25 gigawatts of IT load at the PORTS Technology Campus in Pike County, Ohio, with its aggregate payment obligation cumulatively capped at $105 billion for the initial commitment. An affiliate of OpenAI Group PBC is the tenant and will deploy NVIDIA's full-stack DSX AI factory platform across that capacity; NVIDIA can provide further credit support for roughly an additional 3.8 gigawatts at its sole discretion. NVIDIA's payment obligation is triggered only by OpenAI insolvency or payment failure, ready-for-service conditions are expected beginning in 2028, and OpenAI has agreed to reimburse and indemnify NVIDIA for any amounts actually paid.
