Novo Nordisk escalates false-advertising fight with Eli Lilly over obesity-drug comparisons
Novo Nordisk's CEO defended the company's lawsuit against Eli Lilly over ads citing a head-to-head trial in which Zepbound patients at the maximum tolerated 10 mg or 15 mg dose lost an average 20.2% of body weight over 72 weeks versus 13.7% for Wegovy. Novo argues the comparison used an outdated Wegovy dose, noting the FDA approved its higher 7.2 mg dose on March 19, 2026, which showed 19% average weight loss over 72 weeks; Lilly's US Zepbound revenue rose 44% year over year to $4.9 billion in Q2.
