OpenAI is expecting to reach or exceed $70 billion in annualized revenue by the end of the year, driven largely by growth in its enterprise business, up from roughly $50 billion at the end of September, Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter. The company shared the numbers with investors as part of discussions for its latest fundraising, in which it is in talks to raise $30 billion or more at a $1.4 trillion valuation before the new money; OpenAI declined to comment.

Lumentum CEO says optical components are sold out through early 2029

Lumentum CEO Michael Hurlston said the company's optical components are "completely sold out" through early 2029 on demand from tech companies building AI data centers. He said Lumentum is unable to meet about 70% of demand for some products through next year and won't be able to address 30% of demand for some other products through 2028.

More than 120 US lawmakers raise concerns over Google's planned $10 million purchase of Spirit Airlines data for AI training

More than 120 US lawmakers raised concerns about a deal for Google to acquire defunct carrier Spirit Airlines' internal data for $10 million to train artificial intelligence systems, saying the sale would include 100 million emails and 500 million Microsoft Teams messages, Reuters reported. Google said it is not looking to buy any personal information and that the information will be excluded or de-identified, and a privacy ombudsman recommended a bankruptcy judge approve the deal at an October 14 hearing.

Meta bans ByteDance advertising on its apps in 7 countries

Meta Platforms began implementing a complete restriction on ads and paid marketing messages placed on its platforms by ByteDance, which remains in charge of key parts of TikTok in the US. The ban takes effect in the US, Canada, Egypt, Indonesia, Japan, Thailand and Vietnam, and extends to third-party advertisers running campaigns that link to TikTok and other ByteDance properties.
